How did the idea of ​​building the Lagos Zoo come about? Construction of the Lagos Zoo began in late 1997 and it was inaugurated on November 16, 2000, with Maria João Abreu and José Raposo as its patrons. The design of the spaces, the earthmoving, the planting of trees, the transport of logs and stones, and the extreme care in the details according to the species, have led to the Lagos Zoo receiving the recognition it enjoys today for the well-being of its resident animals, its architectural simplicity, and its call for reflection.

About Us

The idea matured as Paulo always maintained a strong connection with animals, more specifically with horses and birds.

Since visits to the farm were frequently requested by tourists and schools, embarking on this adventure of Conservation, Education and Nature Protection was a natural step. And because it is located in the Municipality of Lagos, the Lagos Zoological Park was born.

Thus, all nature lovers can enjoy this leisure space, which is both educational and focused on conservation.
